In 2022, Vermont Farmers Food Center celebrated 10 years of relocalizing our food system!  Vermont Farmers Food Center was incorporated on April 9th, 2012 and has been Rutland’s epicenter of people coming together to access, taste, and celebrate our local food system ever since. Driven by the need for bigger Winter Market space and a vision to own our food future, members of the Vermont Farmers Market led the grassroots community effort to purchase, renovate and reclaim a deserted industrial space in the heart of Rutland. Founding members of the effort established Vermont Farmers Food Center, a new non profit organization to steward ownership of the campus and lead the immense potential of building a regional agricultural economy.

At our 10 year mark, VFFC is growing. By continuing to rehabilitate and repurpose all of the buildings on our 2.93 acre campus in the heart of Downtown Rutland; we are preparing these historic commercial and industrial buildings for the next generation of Rutland County’s agricultural economy and a resilient food system.

Environmental clean up of our big green Farmers Hall building is in process thanks to a great team of engineers gathering information and working on a permanent mitigation plan. VFFC's programs are continuing to operate out of other buildings on our campus that are safe for use, and thanks to so many dedicated partners and supporters, fundraising for next phases of renovation of our "blue building" is nearly complete!  We would like to express our gratitude for all of the community that has rallied around and supported our work and vision these past 10 years!

Throughout the rest of 2022 we will be celebrating 10 years of VFFC in our community and we'll look ahead to the future of our localized, healthy, thriving food system in the region.
