Root Words is a collaboration between Vermont Farmers Food Center, Shrewsbury Agricultural Education & Arts Foundation, Shrewsbury Historical Society, WEXP, and many other community members. Root Words showcases stories of how food and agriculture connect us with our community and our landscape.
The project ran from 2017-2021 and had support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, as well as from this community.
Many community gatherings were hosted as part of the Root Words project including, the Traditions Table dinner series, Stories from the Farm, and the Woven community art project. Many of these events are captured in the images of the Root Words Farmers Hall installation.
The photo installation's opening date is May 1, 2021. The project will continue to grow as a self-guided multimedia installation. Audio elements will premiere on 101.5 WEXP and links will be added to the installation's catalog. Check out the Rutland Herald feature here.
